From Memorial day on it has been really busy. Memorial day was the last day of freedom that Scott had before school got really intense. So we took the day and explored around Scranton. We had our first official Philly cheese steak sandwich at a street vender that use to be in NYC. We then took a walk around campus and by our new home. It was very humid that day and coming from the west coast I have never really experienced true humidity. I never realized how much you could sweat when you are sitting in the shade!
We then had our big move and there were a lot of people from our church that came to help us. I don't know how we could have done it without their help. While we were trying to get settled in our new place I soon realized that Memorial day was a mild day for humidity. We soon experienced four days of torture. Many places out here do NOT have air conditioning and our place was one of them. We thought that since we went through two summers in Utah with out air we for sure could make it but we were wrong! Jackson was sleeping in just his diaper and for his naps I would have to bring him down stairs on the couch where is was a little cooler so he could sleep. He is rolling now (and he is all over the place) so that means I had to sit right next to him. For one of his naps we had to spend it walking around Target or Walmart to escape the torture. So that week was not very productive at all except for when I broke down and got a window air conditioning unit! Hallelujah to technology!
We have made a lot of new friends in Scotts program and at our church. Jackson and I have enjoyed going on little play dates with some of the moms from church. We always go to a different park so it has really helped me get familiar with Scranton. It also has been really nice to have people I can do things with when Scott is gone and Jackson loves seeing other kids play. He is really wanting to just get out there and move like the other little kids.
Scott has been working really hard! I don't know how he does it but he does. Jackson and I are so proud of him and the dedication he is giving. He is doing really well in school and is the favorite among his teachers. One of his professors even gave us extra baseball tickets for the New York Yankee miner league game here in Scranton. He has a lot of people that will ask him for help and Scott gets excited to explain what he knows.
So now that we live in a safer area and we have air conditioning we welcome visitors! Scotts brother Ryan has been our first visitor and we really enjoyed seeing him! Its was almost as if we were still back in Utah. So if any of you want to come see any of the fun attractions back east you can stay with us.
